NYC City Hall Wedding
City Hall weddings have an energy like none other. There are people outside of the building selling flowers, rings, and there are no shortage of photographers handing out their cards in the hopes that someone will want their photos taken. Inside, there are hundreds of people waiting in line to get married in a variety of different takes on wedding attire. I highly recommend taking a peek inside this building one day to get a feel for what I’m talking about here. The whole thing was over in a flash, with the officiant warning everyone to get into position because it was going to be quick. It was all short, simple and beautiful.
This particular job came at an interesting time for me. I was in the middle of some personal relationship turmoil. Being in a room filled with hundreds of people getting married while you are going through a divorce might sound like a nightmare, but it oddly filled me with hope.
I took a very practical approach to love, feeling that you can make it work with anyone if you work hard at it and get along with each other. But you can’t make a relationship work if only one party is working on it. While I am not completely on the other side of this, I am thankful for it and already feel like I have learned a lot about myself. No one deserves to be cheated on, but if it hadn’t happened that way I would have been stuck in a one sided relationship for who knows how long. Being in that room filled with all of that love showed me that I deserve to be loved and cared for as much as I love and care for others. I’m not looking for pity, I just hope this finds you well and that you know that you are also so deserving of love.
