I've never gotten professional photos taken, what should I expect?
Expect to have a lot of fun! I live for capturing organic moments, so I will often ask you to play, run around, or whisper silly words during our session. The most important thing for me is making sure that everyone is comfortable in front of the camera, so much so that you tend to forget the camera is there! I wrote more about lifestyle photography in a recent blog post.
I don't know where we should go for our photoshoot?
Don't worry about that one. I have a ton of places across Philadelphia that I love to shoot at, so I can definitely help you brainstorm some ideas. I love it when a location means something special to you, so don't be afraid to think outside the box. The location can also be as simple as your home or backyard, if that is what you want to capture. At the end of the day these are going to be YOUR photos and I want YOU to love them! I even have a blog post with example photos which you can check out here.
What should I wear?
I want you to look like you. So if you're anything like me and find yourself in the depths of Pinterest at ungodly hours of the night, looking at photos of gorgeous people on mountain tops in flowing floral dresses with cute hats perfectly askew, just know that is probably just another Instagram model. I am not a floral dress on a mountaintop kind of person, and odds are neither are you. So dress in something comfortable(we will be moving and I will most likely ask you to sit on the ground) but most importantly something that feels like you. If you need more direction I will gladly send you lovely guide I found on the previously-mentioned Pinterest.
Tips for families: I want you to coordinate, but not match. Wear complimentary colors but not all the same color. Also be careful with prints, solids often look better in photographs. But again, if you have any questions at all, feel free to text me photos of what you are planning and I'll let you know what looks best (seriously, I do this all the time for clients).
